About APRS Nets
This site listens to APRS and keeps a live page for any net.
What it does
A net controller sets a net up with a short form. This site then shows who checked in, on a list and a map, as it happens.
Start a net
Any net controller can start one. Nothing is public until you publish it.
- Ask for an account at support@aprsconnect.com.
- Sign in, then press Start a net.
- Say where check-ins are sent and when the net meets.
- Send a check-in to try it, then publish.
How a check-in is counted
How a check-in is counted
A check-in is one APRS message, sent the way the net asks while the net is open. For a net on a group server that is a message to the server such as CQ MYNET hello.
The same message heard twice is one check-in. A net can also count a set time before it opens and after it closes.
Net control can add rules: heard by radio, passed on by a named station, sent from a named app, or sent from a place. Each net's Check in page says what counts there.
A check-in that does not count is kept. The Check in page says why, and net control can add it.
Each net has three things. Net control sets them.
- The door Where a check-in is sent, and what it starts with. A door belongs to one net.
- The schedule When the net is open, in its own time zone.
- The count Each operator once, or each SSID.
Where stations are
Where stations are
A map uses a station's last position beacon in the 48 hours before its check-in, or its first within the hour after.
A station that sends no beacon is on the list and not on the map.
A place is never shown more exactly than the station sent it.
A check-in carries no position. A station is put on the map by its own position beacon.
Listen only
Listen only
A check-in sent by radio reaches this site only when a gateway (an IGate) hears it and passes it on. If none is in range, net control can add the operator by hand.
When this site was not listening during a session, that session's page says so.
This site never sends a packet. It hears what gateways pass on to the APRS network.
This site is listening to APRS.
Who runs it
APRS Nets is built and run by AxelStack LLC, the makers of APRS Connect.
Each net's page is run by its own net control.
APRS Connect
A full-featured, modern APRS app for Android, iPhone and the web.
Message with delivery status, follow stations on a map that works offline, and check in to any net from your phone, by radio or over the internet.
Some features need APRS Connect Pro.
